Look for non-profit organizations that host wedding receptions, since their rental fees are extremely reasonable. Weather permitting, you can hold a lovely reception in someone's yard or a local park would be free.

Some rental halls offer full service catering, including linens and tableware and waiters, food preparation and cleanup. This can be very expensive unless they are non-profit. Look for a small catering company and check their prices. Some church halls offer catering by church members and those can be cheaper. Check there also. Having a reception with a buffet can be very reasonable and perhaps you can hire some college kids looking to earn money, for cleanup and waiters.

If you want to have alcohol at the reception, you better buy it yourself because a rental hall at retail prices will break your budget in a hurry. Keep things simple, no need for party favors and go easy on the flowers. If it is summer try to find a friend with flowers in their garden and use those for small bouquets for the tables.

Eliminate additional expense by keeping everything simple. There really is no need to have little party favors at each table, since hardly anyone remembers or appreciates those items anyway. A lot of rental halls will have equipment available for you to play your CDs, but you can also rent this equipment fairly inexpensively. If you know people who play piano for instance, you could have them help perhaps for free or for a small fee. Download an e-album of sheet music containing 30 pieces of music including the most famous and loved classical selections for weddings.

You can save a lot by only ordering paper invitations for family members. Everyone else, including your friends and extended family, can be invited via email. You might think it is not very elegant but you can create an invitation on email with stationery design and it is easier for people to respond than by regular mail. There are very inexpensive invitations these days through various printing websites.
