The Diamond Engagement Wedding Rings Site

"For years it has done its job. It has led me not into temptation. It has reminded my husband numerous times at parties that it's time to go home. It has been a source of relief to a dinner companion. It has been a status symbol in the maternity ward." ~Erma Bombeck, about her wedding ring

THE PRINCESS CUT DIAMOND

Fancy diamond shapes such as heart diamond, trilliant diamond, pear diamond, marquise, oval, and princess diamond are all designed to maximize the carat weight.

Diamond Shapes - One of the most popular styles of diamond cuts is the princess cut diamond. The most popular cut may be the round brilliant diamond, but the Princess cut is a little different. There is a real icy fire to the square Princess cut diamond. There are also emerald cut diamonds, asscher cut diamonds, marquise diamonds and the ideal cut diamond, a form of round diamond, and lastly the brilliant cut diamond.
Diamonds are the oldest item that anyone can own. A diamond can be three billion years old, formed underground and shot up from extraordinary volcanoes. They are made of carbon in its most concentrated form. Diamonds are extremely pure. Diamonds were found mostly in Europe during the 17th and 18th centuries. The round brilliant stone is thought to be the perfect example of a diamond shape. Among the many shapes (round, princess, emerald, radiant, asscher, oval, marquise, heart, pear, trillion, cushion) of the diamond, one is not better than the other. It just makes it harder for you to make a decision as to which one is the one for you or your intended.Which cut is the best for your ring?

Choosing the right diamond ring

You are going to have many styles of wedding rings and wedding bands to pick from. Solitaires are single precious stone wedding rings usually set in 14k or 18k yellow or white gold, platinum and other metals. You can have shapes such as round, marquise, heart, emerald, oval, pear, princess, trillion, multi cut, and radiant. Settings include prong, bezel, chevron, bar, channel, invisible, and paved.

When you see "Solitaires with accents" it means that they are much like a solitaire, but with small accent stones on the side that could be either diamonds or other precious stones such as sapphires, rubies and emeralds.

You might be surprised to know that Titanium wedding bands and bridal jewelry are durable and light because titanium is an extremely lightweight metal that's as strong as steel. It is very strong, durable, does not tarnish and is hypoallergenic. The sheen is a beautiful alternative to white gold, silver and platinum.

Think about the style that you will want to wear everyday with any outfit and choose one that you will cherish forever.

Top 10 Diamond Shapes (alphabetically)

1. Cushion Cut
An antique style of cut that looks like a cross between an Old Mine Cut (a deep cut with large facets that was common in the late 19th and the early 20th centuries) and a modern oval cut. Ashley Judd, whose race-car-driving heartthrob, Dario Franchitti, presented her with an antique cushion-cut
diamond in a pavé setting.

2. Emerald Cut
A more traditional shape, the emerald is not as popular as it used as it once was, but has an old world elegance to it. Elizabeth Taylor, when engaged to her third husband, Michael Todd, wore a nearly 30-carat emerald-cut diamond. Prince Rainier of Monaco gave actress Grace Kelly a 12-carat emerald-cut diamond engagement ring when he proposed marriage.

3. Heart Cut
Hard to find due to low demand, some people prefer a heart shape diamond for
sentimental reasons. Dynasty diva Joan Collins wears a heart-shaped diamond in a 19th-centurty setting from her latest hubs, Percy Gibson.

4.
Marquise Cut
Like the emerald, the marquise is a traditional shape. This is probably the fourth
most popular shape behind the round, princess and oval. Catherine Zeta-Jones proudly wears Michael Douglas' symbol of love, a grand 10-carat marquise.

5. Oval Cut
Not as popular for solitaires, but very popular for three stone anniversary rings, with two matching diamonds on the sides. Singer Whitney Houston received an oval-shaped diamond from hubby Bobby Brown.

6. Pear Cut
Not often used in diamond rings, the pear shape diamond is shaped in a tear drop shape and has fairly good proportions to refract light well. Before they split up, Liza Minnelli touted a pear-shaped three-and-a-half-carat diamond from David Gest.

7. Princess Cut
A square cut diamond that has refractive properties almost near round brilliant. The princess is the preferred square cut shape over radiant. Kevin Costner wowed his bride Christine Baumgartner with this relatively new princess shape five-carat square diamond with interwoven bands fashioned in a leaf pattern.

8. Radiant Cut
Popular before the princess shape was around, the radiant has more facets than a princess, but has the corners trimmed like the emerald shape. This shape is not very popular.

9. Round Brilliant Cut
Not to be confused with round. The round brilliant is the modern version of
the round which has been refined for maximum shine. The round brilliant is by far the most popular and has the best angles for which to shine maximum
brilliance. Football Giant Jason Sehorn famously and publicly presented actress Angie Harmon with a fittingly giant round solitaire. Also Barbra Streisand received a one-carat round stone from actor James Brolin.

10. Trillion Cut
This is a spectacular wedge of brittle fire. First developed in Amsterdam, the exact design can vary depending on a particular diamond's natural characteristics and the cutter's personal preferences. It may be a traditional triangular shape with pointed corners or a more rounded triangular shape with 25 facets on the crown, 19 facets on the pavilion, and a polished girdle. It is definitely a very special cut.
