If you choose a gold band you have two choices, 14k or 18k gold for your wedding band. Also you can select between yellow or white gold for the ring and you have an option for a two tone wedding band that combines white and yellow gold in the same ring, or the tri colors of rose gold, yellow gold and white gold. The main difference between 14k and 18k gold is the gold content in the two, an important fact to know is that 14k gold is much harder than 18k gold. Even knowing this you can be assured that both yellow and white gold wedding bands will have the same degree of hardness. The two tone or three tone wedding band offers an interesting option. You can choose to have a white gold wedding band with only the edges made in yellow gold or vice versa. Remember even simple diamond wedding bands can be made with the two tone gold option to add a touch of elegance to the ring.
The finish of wedding bands can change the overall look and feel of your wedding band. There are three types of finish used in rings. First is the high polish finish which is the most common. The second is a dull or brushed finish. You might hear this called 'sand blasting'. A lot of white gold bands with diamonds are often made with the dull finish and this gives the ring a sophisticated and expensive look. A lot of couples choose to have matching wedding bands. The only difference in a matched set is the size of the rings. A man's ring will usually have a wider band. As seen here you can combine finishes and inserts that make a beautiful ring for both the bride and groom.
As you can see in this example you can get an engraved band with different designs. This is a very delicate ring, very petite and with an old fashioned look. An even more delicate ring can be found in one with a wider band and a design cut all the way through the ring much like a crochet doilie.
